Has anyone ever used the flexi's from vinylrecorder.com? it says they come in a pack of 100 for 50euros.
I wrote them to ask if I could purchase any but haven't received a reply. Is there anywhere else that sells flexis to cut on?

I suspect they do not want the hassle of people coming back to them - is there anybody on here that could order them - that is the question...

I would love to have a load for tests.

OK, I have read quite a few posts about souri's blanks...

Is he the Plastic Mogul?? Does he own his own R&D lab and have a proprietary mix with the recipe locked in a Swiss vault and all employees are silenced under pain of death? He must pay well. What I am getting at is that someone somewhere must be able to find out what he uses and go get it from a wholesaler. Could it be as simple as Lexan?

I'm going to make some inquiries when I get off my lazy duff. (Which should be soon). This is all dependant on whether Souri's hitmen can bump me off before I discover The Secret[tm].

Wahat is it about this Souri guy? Anything I read is always negative. I get the impression he sells his disc recorders and then refuses to supply blank discs.

I didn't mean to sound like I was talking trash about souri, it just seems like he's got a secret formula. Plus, being a n00b myself, I think I mistook what his blanks were as I have a bunch of plastic discs that I thought were from vinylrecorder...

Maybe I should inform myself before being a smart-ass Embarassed

OK so now am I correct that they are poured and not a type of off-the-shelf pvc cut into discs?

hi i will speak for souri as i know he will not like it but i will.....
souri is the( king lathe troll no 1)very funny and easy goin, i first contacted souri when i saved enough cash to buy the setup then i emailed him and he said to come to germany ,,i thought this was a joke at first as i am from australia..so i saved more and went there anyway last year(skeptical.. but I had never been overseas)..
on arival i was treated with the best hospitality free food ,acomadation, and beer wow the beer ..
i did training for 3 days and saw how it all works.he chooses not share stiluses and blanks for other cutters thats kool by me as i saw what hard work souri and fritz put in 12hr days etc etc...
they have been ripped off before and i think they had 4 cutters stolen in north america so thats probly why he would not help you with youre motor (bratwurst, thats if you got the cutter from the US and you did say that souri said it was an older model)... souri has spent over 20 years hard work invented a lathe with all the styluses and blanks you need and support from them,he wants to meet and teach each buyer in person, to them it is a phylosophy art form(it was like i went to shoalin temple and meet the grandmaster). as we all know this forum is a secret society and he is just that ha ha, a real troll workin out of a disused train station ..if you buy a new car and went elsewere for supply maitinence etc, why would you expect them to help you. and as for the blanks i think its his own recipy and has every right to keep a secret, thats the secret, his blanks and cutter head... we all need to make a livin...
if you have a souri cutter and you are loyal then you will see that blanks and styluses will be much cheaper than finding materal from around the world....
....................sorry souri...........

The flexis in question can't be his own recipe though, can they? how does one manufacture a flexi disc? I envision it coming on a huge roll and a die stamp punches out millions of the little guys.

someone on here must know the formula or were to get flexi poly clear or colour sheets then buy a ajustable curcler jig that will give you a center hole aswell...or go to a art shop they have clear poly sheets(dont know if they are sutible) ....
or.... this may sound a bit crazy and expensive, ask souri if you can go to germany for trainin and get all the flexies you want then you will be down with the illuminnati underground ha ha.......

I just go to a plastic manufacturing/cutting warehouse dumpster pull all the extra left over edges and excess from jobs they have that would go to landfill, take home then use circlecutting jig on router... trace a 7",10" etc record ontop of protective plastic, cut with jig and then drill out center hole. edges are usually slightly rough (im not using a plastic bit) but sand em down if you wanna smooth edge, then get paper circle cutter cut label center and spray adhesive on.

SIMPLE??

Hi there!
Yes, souri only sell blanks to vinylrecorder customers Sad
I have a company, the can do the same blanks like souri,
but, I have no time to arrange everything... manufacturing, cutting
storage, selling... maybe in a few months...
I installed a 7inch press now.... makes more fun Wink
best regards,
andreas

ps: you need a special type of sandwich plastic, inner layer black, the layers outside clear (transparent) for cutting.
cutting into black plastic is possible, but the black colors destroys your styli.
the outer layers must be not to hard.
because of the inner black layer, you can heat up the blanks very easy, to reduce noise and safe lifetime of diamond.

Andybee, thanks.

Your reply answered a lot of my questions about the process for making the blanks. I'll look forward to when you have the time for their production!
