I just picked up a wiilcox gay recordette but no sound comes out of the speaker when I play a record. Is the problem with the cartridge? The speaker is working and the platter spins, but that's about all I know.
Also, what is the plug that fits into the mic input? I thought it was a 1/8" stereo mini jack but that doesn't work.
I'd really appreciate any info that anyone can give me on this cutter. Does anyone know of a vintage record player fix it shop in Brooklyn? Thanks! |

Hi, it's a RCA / Phono jack.
Try touching where the wires connect to the cartridge with your finger while turning the volume up. Iif you get a hum or noise when you touch the connections, the amp is working. Also of course if the radio part works the amp is working.
The subject of restoring these has been covered zillions of times in this forum so dig back and you should find tons of info... |
