Hey, so I just bought two Wilcox Gay recorders off of ebay, and was wondering what are the best alternative materials for recording to with one of these machines.
I haven't even gotten my hands on these machines yet, but I've been chopping down solo plates and stuff in preparation. Does anyone have any favorite materials they like to use? How does Plexiglass work?
Thanks

| Solo brand plates actually didn't cut very well for me. way too much surface noise. The generic store brand(in my case, Piggly Wiggly) ones worked much better. Also the Hefty brand plates did ok. The duller side tends to cut better than the glossy side. Clear plastic file jackets work well. I nabbed one from work, but I think you can probably get something similar from office depot or the like. Coffee can lids cut ok too, but you have to drink a hell of a lot of coffee to put together a release. I think plexi would probably be too hard, but I haven't tried it. |
