hello!
we have some problems with the stylus heating of our souri vinylrecorder. when the heating coil broke for the first time we didnt want to wait for souri to send us some so we made our own with a nichrome wire (i think thats also what souri uses)
now we have problems with the heating because our stylus is used and damaged a bit. when we turn the heating up until the heating coil is glowing nearly white the grooves look (and sound) ok but as soon as the head gets a signal it takes only a few seconds until the heating coil breaks.
does anybody have experience with used/damaged stylus? do we have to get a new one because a used/damaged stylus cannot be heated enough to get good grooves? or maybe our heating coil is the problem?
if anybody has the possibility to measure the resistance (and maybe the length of the heating wire) of a souri-made heating coil it would be nice if he would let me know. maybe we have to get a thicker nichrome wire. |

how many/much amperes have you used?
normal is 0.5A, if stylus is old, I use more, but max. 0.8A.
Maybe you need a other wire...
It canīt be heated to much without problems...
How do you glue the heating wire to the diamond?

| we use around 2A, no glue.. hm maybe that is the problem, but are you sure that souri is glueing it? when i removed the original one it didnt seem to be glued (only full of vinyl but maybe there was some glue) |
