|
|
Hello guys ; after killing a few blanks I finally set up the angle for a recording head from an Imperial II - I only have the top of the machine: turntable, microgroove lathe and Audax mono cutting head. The question is about the sound: The quality has change since the last mainteneance and I used to cut with great sound using my pre-amp. The mechanism is cutting smoothly but the sound sucks with the same equalization. I am wondering if I need to go more deep with the grooves to improve sound but scare to do that since the thread won't go smoothly. Is it something normal from Audax mono heads? I am using 4 Ohmz and I think Audax can take up to 12 or 16 but I did cut better sound with same voltage before - Perhaps I need more power and nothing to do with preasure and settings? I compared the look of the grooves : the ones with good sound look dry and rough ; the latest ones are shiny and look somehow better but the sound quality has decrease. If someone has info or tips, let me know! _________________ JORNI (Vancouver BC) |
