I came across this: http://calarts.edu/images/redcat/gallery/briand/600b.jpg
Its a vinylcutter in the middle of the picture...it's very difficult to see, but I could not find a better picture. It was printed in the Wire, july issue where there is a better pic.
The macine looks extremely small, simple and new.....
Anybody have a clue which cutter it is? |

it is not a vestax. it is a custom made one.
it is a long story.....
mathieu briand a well french artist bought had in fact the first kingston dubplatecutter. he bought from our german partner company back in the times. this was the one and only prototype for years . the german company run out of money... and they sold the cutter. even we didnt had one.then for a long time.not a nice story.
the first proto had some bugs. not very stable. not made for selling. it was more a demo unit to show to interested people...
then the kingston was broken. and we should fix it but they didnt want to pay the repair. we didnt want to repair for free....he couldnt understand, but it was another company he bought the cutter from and it was never intended to be sold.
so he was pissed, we where pissed and he asked someone to build him another cutter....i think thats what happened.
so i think its really a one of a kind unit. i have seen it in japan and i even did a cut. something between vestax, vinylcutter. .
the whole installation was first with the kingston cutter. in barcelona and paris centre pompidou. i think it was nice in the red version....
on their website is still a picture of the original kingston

i dont know what happened to this original machine....hehe .would be interesting..it is kingston dubplatecuter serial 001.....!!!! |
