I have a PRESTO K-8 serial #4506 for sale.
I am not sure what might be missing from this unit as I have no real knowledge of this thing. It was passed along to me by a friend who knew I liked old radios, phonographs, tv's, etc.

if it's complete, a k-8 would be a pretty good entry level cutter for somebody on here. I loves my k-10. I don't *need* another (already have a junker k-6), but what would you be asking?

Love that handle! I'm a Chrysler man myself having owned mostly mopars. Just parted with my '68 Chrysler Newport Custom 2-door business man's special. She was a sweet ride.

Anyhow, I'm not real sure of what the value of the Presto K-8 I have is. I would like to sell it and make both myself and a buyer happy. I was glad to get some responses to my post right away and there's a gentleman in Australia who's interested.

I have just taken several pics of it and I'm going to try and post a link here, but I have to create a .html file. Bear with me as I'm definately a newbie to this site. I'll be back to add the link soon.

it looks overall pretty good. there doesn't appear to be anything missing. Are the tubes intact? they can be a bit costly to replace. It'd be a good idea to remove the 3 glass ones for shipping as they can wiggle out of their sockets and smash against the grill if it gets mishandled. Mine did. It worked out well in the end as I bought the k-6 with the insurance money (and it had a better cutterhead). here's what i know about the k-8. it may help you in your bartering.
It's a fixed pitch standard groove cutter.It dates somemwhere around 1948. It will cut 33 or 78 rpm. I think it only cuts standard groove, outside in. The k-10 has extra gears for cutting microgroove and for inside out grooves. If you lift up the platter you can find out easily. the extra gears are stored there. yours has an audax head which was the standard head for the k series.yours also has the advance ball, which I think was new on the k-8 model. the freq. range is somewhere around 100hz to 8khz (I could be a little off on that). it's an 8 ohm head. due to the age the amp will probably need recapping (an afternoons work if you're handy with a soldering iron) and the head may need rebuilding. Have you tried powering it up?

Thanks for the offer of help, much obliged Will take up your offer if the deal comes to pass Still waiting for an idea of freight cost as well as some idea of time frame The us post must be making a killing with freight charges now days it is a bit of a shame really Used to be real good before Now the cost of a parcel to come out here is $120 Never mind I am in my late fifties grew up with valves as well as high voltage RF transmitters being a past "ham" so I am well versed in the art of tubes and all that I bought my first transistor as a component in 1964 and it cost me $6 when I was earning about $12.00 per week I thought it was magic and it was a OC 126 made in Germany and it was a pretty mundane sort of device It did not do much but it was also some kind of a miracle to have this tiny thing running out of a battery and do the same job as a valve No transformer no high voltage no impedance matching output transformer and all that Any way as the saying goes whats old becomes new It is amazing as well to see today the price some valve gear brings and of course so much for progress in the communist countries they have started up the old tube manufacturing plants and we now have new tubes on the market Never thought I would see that But here we are

Maybe one of you guys know someone who would be interested in my D&A Phantom linear amp for the HAM bands and it works for 11 meters (CB) also. Its a 10-tube (6QL6's) linear that I swung 1800w on am with.
Been stored for years as it was beginning to get me in trouble with the neighbors bleeding into the phones, tv's, etc.
Hell, I think it was even opening garage doors all over the place, LOL!
