hello
just found today a strange dictaphon. mechanical recording on a cylinder. it looks that you have to attach some sort of plastic sheet on the cylinder and then record up to 10 minutes on the sheet.
seems it is a piezo recording, embossing recorder/reproducer..
anyone has seen that before..google didnt gave too much infos.
let me know ypur experience... i guess this is a nice source for bricolage recorders.......
check the picture...
i hope the link works

Edison Dict-A-Belt uses a thin cylindrical resin based belt made out of the same material as the disc-based Edison Voicewriter with a similarly constructed embossing head as found on a Grey Audograph or CGS Reference Recorder.
The magnetic version a few years later used a strip of magnetic tape spliced to itself and a small magnetic head on a lead screw. The Magn-A-Belts could therefore be erased and reused. _________________ 2 Kinds of Men/Records: Low Noise & Wide Range. LN is mod. fidelity, cheap, & easy.
