hello, im new.

im thinking about investing in a lathe cutter (maybe the vinyl recorder), because the music scene im involded in is based around small run vinyls also if i could get good, long lasting records i would use them for my record label.

i have two queastions, if any one could help.

1. the pvc/vinyl blank disks lasts quite well apparentlly does anyone know what the signal to noise is like and weather they last as well as trad vinyl?

2. other than polycarbonate (dub plates), which degrade quickly/worse quality. does anyone know of a more enviomentaly freindly medium to lathe cut with, as pvc is an enviomental nigthmare so id like a good sounding alternitive, but cant find any.

thank you
alan

Helo Alan and welcome.

I dont know the answer to the first questions and hoping that someone has the answer.

When you say "polycarboante (dub plates)" I am thinking you are actually meaning lacquer discs (often called acetates). The dont last as long ie: you will notice a high frequency roll-off after many plays. They are nitro-cellulose lacquer coated aluminium discs.
