| would the blank discs they have work for a portable lathe cutter? is there an issue with them maybe being too hard of material for the needle to cut into? |

hello
i try only the head cutter
dont have feedback, but support hi_quality power whitout helium
its better for cut pvc, only i cut any acetates with
i have one vestax vrx 2000 too
vinylrecorder and vestax are too expensive quality-price
i try too mucho

| if somebody needs any more information about this cutter... its a good solution in europe, here dont have a lot rek o haeco-grampian, but her sound.....dont good, very crisp, but for scratch its ok, not for audio lovers |

I heard a testcut of this thing,
its alright! some people here in germany say its a bit dull...
but i think it depends a lot on the person who uses it...
the trick is also: it uses diamond styli and not saphire
(we tried to cut into souris-vinylrecorder-plates with normal cutterheads...
its not possible!...you need the right cutting angle --> 15° for acetate
0° for PVC as far as i am concerned...i heard they heat up the PVC-disks with a light bulb and also with hot-water-baths but thats just rumours...
hey dr. dub you might know more?)
a better solution (maybe not for cutting PVC but for better soundquality)
is http://www.vinylium.ch --> kingston record cutter
these people were the first to build technics MK2 cutters...

the new vinylrecorder heads do have feedback...
i am not going into the better/worse discussion, but what we learned is 2 things:
- ONLY through experience and cutting LOTS of records you achieve satisfying results. if you don't cut on a dayly basis you will not be able to produce decent records.
- outbord gear is just as imprtant as whatever cutter you use.
we cut on all kinds of blanks (souri, pressed ones, apollo) and learned that souri's machine is working fine, once you have a setup that fits your blanks. this is one of the big advantages of it: it's flexible and you can twist and turn it the way you need... |

i will like listen, but compare the old one with the sc-99 vinylium...
i believe, a person, dont need a lot of time for listen the diferences

if you use diamond stylus in vinylium cutterhead you can cut any pvc blank
of course, you can use zaphirus stylus for cut pvc...but the stylus recording time its low.... |

hi i have one of these machines sorry for late reply ...
sound quality depends on user .... at first i thought yeah these are ok but now i think they are amazing ........ you need a hot space tho minimum 28 degrees and each record has to be more than 42 degrees to get real good sound.... and stylus heating is different for each records depending on room temp give or take a few degrees this is important |
