Hello all!
I am new to this site and haven't been around long enough to know if this has been discussed before, but I have a general question; I was talking to someone the other day that mentioned seeing a show on Discovery or some other station about how amateur record labels in Jamaica were blanking (terminology?) and re-pressing new records using old ones. Does anybody here know anything about this, or be able to give advice? Thanks!

Just press the erase button on your disc lathe. SCRAPE
No, I have not heard of this although of course old vinyl was ground up and recycled into new biscuts for the record presses.
I guess you could scrape the grooves off, but leaving a surface flat enough to cut - if you wanted to cut actual vinyl at all - would be very difficult. And it would probably be too thin by that point anyway. |
