hello..
I met a man on my street the other day. he had some big reel to reels so i went to talk to him.
I told him i cut recs.
He told me hes a Preist and have cutting needles.
He had some ortofon needles, but the are to small to place in my sc99 cutting head.
I would relly love to try theese old danish needles.
Do any have experience or good ideas to modify this so if will fit ?
thank u |

Do a search here
Look at Flo's posts and go through them you will find a mod that he did for something similar may be he can do them for you, or you would need a watchmaker with a little lathe to make a couple little adaptors

I have some of those needles and 3 cutting heads where they fit.
My problem is the opposite, I would like to make 'normal' needles fit into these old cuterheads.
It seems that the needle diameter is simply smaller than normal needles - maybe it's possible to solder some metal 'sheet' around them making them bigger? |

Tape
These shanks are made from Duralumin a harder type of alluminium so you would be hard pushed to make anything like solder to stick to them
Besides The sapphire is glued in the shaft so any excessive heat will cook the adhesive away
You would need around 600 degrees to melt the solder assuming that they are steel shanks which would take solder
That is something that I doubt very much
Give up the idea or you will be opening a can of worms
Trade them than get what suits you
